Statement of Intent
I believe in perceptual process. A process that is an on-going, simultaneous, multi-layered, multi-dimensional, ever-changing, attempt at normality. This existential – phenomenological aesthetic balances a linear-lateral approach to thinking: a subjective discovery of the commonplace, the ordinary, the obviousness of existing, and the simple expression of truth by overlapping marks to create a space on a flat surface. By overlapping a push pull effect is created. A point of departure, rather than a conclusion. This invites perceptual participation. The process of perceptual dialectical materialism is the essence of nowness or the highest level of truth. I believe and subscribe to Gottlieb and Rothko’s tenet. We favor the simple expression of complex thought.
